Pentagram Rebrand With New Color Palette, Logo, Custom Typeface

Expedia has renamed itself as ‘Expedia Group’ to illustrate its position as parent company of Hotels.com, Egencia, Trivago, and HomeAway.

Along with the new name, the brand has roped in the talents at Pentagram—led by Paula Scher—to introduce a new visual identity, shedding its yellow plane symbol and adopting a contemporary bespoke typeface.

Taking center stage is the aerodynamic lowercase ‘e’ with an elongated eye and flat terminal. From there, type designer Jeremy Mickel developed ‘Expedia Global Display’, a custom font that allows the brand to make the ‘e’ its trademark.

The typeface will be used across Expedia Group’s system of sub-brands, along with its new “brilliant blue and black” palette.
