Designer’s Facebook Signup Page Concept Discloses How Your Data Will Be Used

Facebook has—to put it simply—lost face, now that it’s been called out for mishandling 50 million users’ personal data. Apple co-founder Tim Cook and his predecessor, Steve Jobs, both expressed that the social network should have been transparent from the start.

How should the social network start anew? Designer and developer Marten Bjork believes Facebook should lay out how users’ data is handled right at its forefront: when a person intends to start an account.

Bjork has thus created a Facebook signup page concept for those who don’t have a habit of reading the fine print—everybody.

“Most people don’t see the problem with giving lots of private information to a large company like Facebook so I created a website explaining some of the privacy implications,” the designer expresses.

In the reimagined design, Bjork includes an easy-to-understand list of how Facebook might manage personal information. It truly makes one wonder why the social network hasn’t created something as simple and straightforward as this concept.
